Cultural Olympiad - events in 2010 and new factsheets on the Arts Council website

Cultural Olympiad events talking place in 2010 will include
  • Countdown to London 2012, LOCOG's Open Weekend (30 July-1 August, 2010) and Count Me In, a region wide celebration of culture led by music, dance and street arts. (24-26 September, 2010)  This year's theme for both weekends will be around rising to the challenge of 2012, doing things you've always wanted to do but never quite got round to...
  • A Real Ideas Organisation (RIO) project entitled Get Real which will link five schools in the south west with five schools close to the Olympic site in London.
  • A month of cultural activity in Weymouth and Portland in September, including the B-Side, multi media festival.
  • A visit to Weymouth & Portland (Weymouth Bay and Portland Harbour will be the venue for the Olympic and Paralympic sailing competitions) by Bill Morris, Head of Culture, Celebrations and Education (LOCOG) early next year.
  • Quest: 2012 Challenge, will be launched across the region on the Open Weekend in July 2012.  This project will provide an opportunity for people to sign up to and set their own personal or group challenge.

The Arts Council have just published factsheets on their web site about the Cultural Olympiad. Visit this link to download them.
