Many people look to the Arts Council England's Grants for the Arts Scheme (G4A). While this is a good source of funding for some, it is not the 'holy grail' and there are other places to look for funds.
First of all - don't simply find contacts from funding resources and just ask them for money. It won't work! You have to have a good reason to apply for arts funding - it's not easy. Study each arts funding source carefully and see exactly what they are offering. Follow their guidelines for application rigidly and don't abuse the system and waste their time and yours.
It's a time consuming business trying to get arts funding and don't expect it - and follow all the rules, be very polite and have a very good reason to want sponsoring - not just because you want to paint a picture, make a film and enjoy yourself. It's a serious business.

The Department for Culture, Media and Sport also has funding pages you can access here as well as a guide to funding for artists and arts organisations available here.
For information on Arts Council England Grants for the Arts and other funding initiatives, visit the ACE website here. Arts Council England is committed to access for all and will therefore endeavour to ensure their Grants for the Arts application process is accessible. 'The Arts Council has a small budget to support applicants' communication access needs in relation to filling out the application form. If you would like more details about this, the individual art-form officer relevant to your application will give you the information, or you can contact your regional office's Diversity and Inclusion Officer.
Local authorities are the second largest supporters of the arts in England. They are not required to provide funding for the arts, but most do. Many also support the arts through providing venues and advice & information services. For a list of local authority arts officers from the Voluntary Arts website, click here.
Many local and regional busineses are also interested in corporate responibility (another term for funding). Organisations such as Arts and Business South West can help to advise you both as an artist or arts organisaiton on how best to go about approaching businesses for funding.
