Acting Courses for young Deaf/BSL actorsAt ALRA (the Academy of Live and Recorded Arts), the Royal Victoria Patriotic Building, John Archer Way, SW18 3SX Acting for the Stage: Weekends in June, then 5 - 16 July, lead by David Ellington
Acting for Camera: 19 - 30 July, lead by Samuel Dore.
To register and for more information contact Amy Smith: asmith@alra.co.uk | 020 8870 6475 These courses- Acting for the Stage and Acting for Camera- are a unique opportunity for Deaf young people who have a keen interest in acting but have never really known where to start.
Both courses are absolutely free to participate in, thanks to funding from the LSC. This funding can also be used to supply accommodation to anyone coming to us from outside London.
Each course is led by a Deaf artist who uses BSL, which ensures there is direct communication between the tutor and the students in their own language. This means students become fully immersed in the workshops, gain invaluable experience and have confidence in their skills as Deaf actors.
The students do not need to have experience; we are looking for people who are open-minded, enthusiastic, have a keen interest in acting and are committed to undertaking either of these two-week long courses.
