Kaleido Artists
Michael MitchellMichael came to dance after he broke his neck in 1983. His interest was driven by the passion to understand movement from the inside out. He then had Zen training and began to teach a contemporary form of Sattipathana which looks at conscious movement in everyday activity.
Most of his work is within education and community contexts in the South West region. He has facilitated inclusive dance projects including Breath & Balance and Sculptured Space, and performed at Holton Lee, Dorset and The Arc in Trowbridge.
Michael is an associate artist with Dance South West and REACH Inclusive Arts, and is the only disabled dance artist currently running their own company, Dance Aware, in the South West. With Dance Aware he explores sensing boundaries and develops themes which look at disability issues.
